Macro photography can be an expensive pastime. A decent lens can cost £600+, then there is the special flashlight systems. As a complete novice, I stand very little chance of choosing the correct euipment, so I have gone for the cheaper option and bought some extension tubes. After my first weekend with them, I am very pleased that I took this course. The results are far from professional, but they are much better than I expected - given that I am new to this.
